Overview

The Department of Commerce offers a dynamic and industry-oriented learning environment designed to prepare students for professional excellence and entrepreneurial growth. The department follows the Bengaluru City University - SEP syllabus, with a specialisation in Accounting and Finance. The curriculum is structured to meet contemporary industry requirements and is integrated with research based learning, encouraging students to engage in analytical thinking, data interpretation, and evidence based decision making.

Students gain practical exposure through mandatory internships and project work, enabling hands on experience in real world business environment and enhancing employability skills. The department also focuses on holistic development through academic activities, seminars, workshops, industrial visits, and value-added training programs.

 


Eligibility for Admission

A candidate who has passed two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to these programmes.

b. To meet the evolving needs of industries by fostering relevant knowledge and competencies.
c. To enable students to pursue higher education, empowering them to become business scientists, researchers, consultants, and educators with strong core competencies.
d. To cultivate ethical managers with a multidisciplinary and holistic perspective.
e. To prepare students for careers in Accounting, Finance, and related functions within the corporate sector.
f. To train students for competitive examinations such as UPSC, KPSC, Staff Selection Commission, and recruitment processes in banking, insurance, and other sectors.
g. To nurture entrepreneurial skills and foster innovation-driven business leadership.
h. To guide students toward professional careers in fields such as Accountancy, Chartered Accountancy, Cost and Management Accountancy, Company Secretaryship, Capital and Commodity Markets, Banking, and Insurance by preparing them for respective professional examinations.
i. To equip students for roles such as Business Analyst, Financial Analyst, and professionals in Marketing and Human Resources.
