Overview

The Bachelor of Arts (B.A) in Journalism, Economics, and Optional English is a three year undergraduate program that offers a multidisciplinary approach to media, communication, and socio-economic understanding. It equips students with the skills to analyze, create, and communicate ideas effectively across diverse platforms.

The curriculum includes core papers in Journalism, covering Media Ethics, Reporting and Editing, Photojournalism, and Digital Media, alongside Economics subjects such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Indian Economic Development. Optional English enhances literary appreciation, critical analysis, and creative writing through the study of prose, poetry, and drama.

Students gain practical exposure through internships, media projects, and writing workshops, enabling them to connect classroom learning with industry practices.

Graduates can pursue careers as Journalists, Content Writers, Economists, Copy Editors, or Communication Specialists, or opt for higher studies in Mass Communication, Economics, or Literature.

The B.A -Journalism, Economics & Optional English program nurtures articulate thinkers and responsible communicators ready to influence society through knowledge and expression.

 


Eligibility for Admission

A candidate who has passed two years Pre-University Examination conducted by the Pre-University Education Board in the State of Karnataka or any other examination considered as equivalent thereto shall be eligible for admission to these programmes.
